Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site data is collected as shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Contact Forms

We use a plug-in to manage contact forms, which routes any contact requests to a specific Byte™ Ltd mailbox. Any personal data will be processed for the purpose of responding to any contact requests.

Cookies

If you leave comments on this site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

Analytics

This site is powered by WordPress and as such they undertake analytics on basic usage from visitors.

Data Sharing

Your data is not shared with any 3rd parties beyond WordPress gathered analytics and ourselves.

Data Retention

If you leave a comment, the comment and any metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so it can be recognised and to approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Any contact emails shall be retained for a year whereupon the data will be erased.

Data Subject Rights

If you have contacted us or have left comments, you can request to receive a copy of the personal data held about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that any personal data is erased that is held about you. This does not include any data obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
